What comes to mind when thinking of “Chicken Rice”?
When talking about something as a symbolic as a landmark, we might think about people, animals, or objects. “Food” could also be symbolic of a place. For example, if we think of salted eggs, one might think of Chaiya District. The same can be said of Fish sauce from Rayong Province, Langsat from Tanyongmat Sub District(Narathiwat Province) and Mangosteen from Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. “Chicken Rice” is a simple dish that is sold everywhere. However, what comes to mind when thinking of “Chicken Rice”? Where do you think of????? …. Of course, we think of the famous “Montien Chicken Rice”.
“Montien Chicken Rice” is Singaporean style chicken rice with a mild scented taste. We use chicken oil and cook it until it is tasty then re-cook it againwith rice. The Chicken is marinated and cooked with secret family recipe passed down from generation to generation. Served with soft jasmine rice and a special selection of four sauces; soya sauce, chopped chili and ginger in soya sauce, ground ginger in sesame oil sauce, and black sweet soya sauce. Sweet, sour, salty and spicy,all flavors to choose from.
The recipe of “Montien Chicken Rice” was create by exchanging chef between Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore and Montien Hotel Bangkok. The Chefs from Singapore have invented a special recipe for this chicken rice and Montien Hotel chef has adapted the recipe to the “Thai style”.
“Montien Chicken Rice”notoriety has grown along with the hotel for over 45 years and is now an establishment among locals and tourists alike. Now when going to any Montien Hotel, be it Surawong, The Riverside or Pattaya, the “Montien Chicken Rice” is a dish you cannot miss.
